Welcome to Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth.

Cochrane is an international not-for-profit and independent organisation, dedicated to making healthcare readily available worldwide.  It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions.   Cochrane produces high quality systematic reviews which are published monthly as part of the Cochrane Library.  Sub-sets of Cochrane reviews published in the Cochrane Library are also published in the WHO Reproductive Health Library.

Pregnancy and Childbirth is one of 53 Cochrane Review Groups and was the first group to be formed. Our group prepares and maintains Cochrane systematic reviews of interventions that relate to pregnancy and childbirth, and up to 30 days following childbirth, as well as lactation.  We maintain a comprehensive database of all randomised controlled trials that relate to our group.  We have also produced a Cochrane Pocketbook  which allows doctors, midwives, students and parents to quickly access the best evidence for the care of pregnant women. For more information about our group's aims and responsibilities as well as the topics covered by our group, see ‘More about the PCG’.

On this website you will find information about us and our work, how you can get involved, and a variety of resources and links to help you prepare your Cochrane systematic review for the Pregnancy and Childbirth Group.

Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth is part of the international Cochrane Collaboration, an independent not-for-profit consortium dedicated to providing up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is the largest single funder of this Cochrane Review Group.
